A problem people bring · solved

Borrow with no credit history

DeFi lending never asks for a credit score: on Aave you borrow against collateral you already hold, so you keep your savings and still get cash. With nothing to pledge yet, start an onchain record of references and repayments people can check. Borrow far below the limit. Skip these: borrowing what you cannot repay.

Chapter 1

Who knew?

the bits nobody tells you
Oh! #1
Aave never asks your name, income or credit score.
Loans are secured by collateral, and the rules are enforced by code.
Oh! #2
If your collateral drops, a stranger can repay part of your loan and take some collateral plus a bonus.
That is how Aave liquidation works; it protects lenders, not you.
Oh! #3
You keep the money you borrowed even if you get liquidated; you lose collateral instead.
Liquidation sells collateral to cover the debt, it does not claw back the loan.
Oh! #4
The useful trick is borrowing against savings you want to keep, not borrowing from nothing.
Overcollateralized loans suit short cash needs while keeping long-term holdings.
People assume

Without credit, the only loans are predatory ones at huge rates.

Actually

Gas on an L2 is cents, and interest is variable and set by supply and demand. The real cost is the collateral you lock up and the risk of losing part of it if prices fall.

  1. Start free tonight

Start a record lenders could read

With nothing to pledge, start building trust: references and a clean wallet history.

    1. Give or get a work reference that lives onchain
    2. Keep receipts of every bill and loan you repay.

Cost Free; references cost a fraction of a cent.

  2. The bold play

Borrow against what you hold, carefully

If you hold crypto you will not sell, Aave or Kamino lend against it with no credit check. Borrow far less than the limit.

    1. Borrow against crypto you already hold, no credit check
    2. Set an alert well above the liquidation price.

Cost Gas plus variable interest. Liquidation can cost real money.

    Built by the House

3Jane already gives unsecured credit lines from onchain and offchain data. Nobody has built a portable repayment record for people with no bank history. The House will build it with you.

Questions

Can I borrow on Aave with no money at all?

No. You must deposit collateral worth more than you borrow, so it only helps if you already own assets.

What happens if the price of my collateral falls?

If your health factor drops below 1, part of your collateral can be sold to repay the loan, with a penalty.

Does repaying a DeFi loan improve my bank credit score?

No. DeFi repayments are not reported to credit bureaus, though an onchain record can be shown to people who accept it.

Is borrowing in DeFi legal and is it financial advice?

Rules vary by country and this is not financial advice. Learn the risks and only borrow what you could repay.
