Stuck? Unblock · Costly transfers
Sending money abroad costs too much? Dollars can now cross a border for cents.
A stablecoin like USDC is a dollar that lives on a public network, and it moves between wallets in seconds, any hour, for a network fee that is often under a cent on networks like Base, Solana or Stellar. The money does not queue through a chain of banks, so there is no chain of banks to pay. What is left to price is the step at either end: turning cash into dollars, and dollars back into cash.

Move the dollars wallet to wallet
The middle of the trip costs cents, not percent.
How it works
Send USDC on a low-fee network to a wallet your family controls. Our send dollars across a border Unlock shows it on Arc, Circle's chain where USDC pays its own gas, so you only need the dollars you send.

Collect cash at a MoneyGram counter
No crypto ramp in their town? Almost every town has a transfer counter.
How it works
Wallets built on Stellar can send USDC to MoneyGram Ramps, and the person at the other end collects local cash with photo ID. Fees show in the wallet before you confirm, so you can compare with a normal remittance quote.
- Live today
Cash out locally through a ramp or escrowed P2P
The real cost lives here: compare the spread, not the transfer.
How it works
Local stablecoin apps and P2P desks pay the receiver in local money by bank or mobile money, with the coins held in escrow until they confirm. App spreads often run about 1 to 2 percent. The full picture for one corridor is in sending money home costs too much.

Skip cashing out: spend it straight from a card
If the family can tap a card, there may be nothing to convert by hand.
How it works
Gnosis Pay links a Visa card to the holder's own Safe account, so funds stay theirs until they tap. Availability and card fees vary by region, so check theirs first.
- Possible to build
A live price board for your corridor
Nobody shows the landed total, all fees in, for one route like London to Lagos.
How it works
A small page that quotes the total cost of sending 100 dollars through each ramp, card and counter on one corridor, refreshed daily, would save every family on that corridor real money. Build it, or have the House build it.
Skip these. Skip P2P desks that do not hold the coins in escrow, and anyone who asks you to send first outside the app. Check local rules on holding and converting dollars.
Straight answers
Is sending stablecoins abroad cheaper than a bank wire?
The transfer itself usually costs cents. The real cost is converting at each end, often about 1 to 2 percent on app ramps, so compare the landed total with a normal quote. The World Bank puts the global average for sending 200 dollars at around 6 percent.
Does my family need a bank account to receive?
No. They need a wallet, and a way to spend or cash out: a local ramp, an escrowed P2P desk, a card, or a MoneyGram counter with photo ID.
What if I send to the wrong address?
Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed. Send a small test amount first, every time you use a new address.
