A problem people bring · solved
I fled with no papers. Who will believe me?
You can start a record today that no border can take: an ID key you make yourself in a browser, references former colleagues sign for you onchain, and certificate copies stored permanently. UNHCR has already paid displaced people in USDC to phone wallets. This record is strong supporting evidence; legal status still comes from governments and UNHCR.

Chapter 1
Who knew?
UNHCR has already paid war-displaced people in Ukraine in USDC to a phone wallet, cashable at MoneyGram.
A former employer can sign a reference about you onchain from another country, in minutes, for a fraction of a cent.
Your identity key can be made in a browser with no form, office or document.
A certificate under about 100 KiB can be stored permanently for free.
Rebuilding proof of who you are means paid translations, lawyers and months of letters.
Making an ID key is free, signed references cost a fraction of a cent each on Base, and small files store permanently for free. Official recognition still goes through government and agency processes.

Questions
Can a blockchain record replace my passport or refugee papers?
No. Only governments and recognised agencies issue legal identity. An onchain record is supporting evidence, not a legal document.
Is it safe to put my identity details on a blockchain?
Never put private details or documents with personal data on a public chain. Store only what you would be happy for anyone to see, and keep sensitive files encrypted.
Who can sign a reference about my skills onchain?
Any former employer, teacher or colleague with a wallet can sign an attestation about you; it is stronger when they are easy to verify.
What if I lose the phone that holds my identity key?
Back up your recovery phrase offline in a safe place, or the key and anything tied to it can be lost for good.
Who are three people, anywhere in the world, who could say what you are good at?
Some links are referral links; they never change what we recommend.
