Protect our land papers from forgery

Your family can fix a permanent, dated record of its land papers this week. Store a copy and its fingerprint, then have neighbours and elders sign a witness statement onchain. A later forgery or a lost folder becomes much easier to challenge. It backs your title as evidence; the registry and courts still decide ownership.

Chapter 1

Who knew?

the bits nobody tells you
Oh! #1
Georgia's public registry began recording land titles on a private blockchain anchored to Bitcoin in 2016, built with Bitfury.
About 100,000 titles were reported registered within the first year.
Oh! #2
Any change to a file, even one digit, changes its fingerprint completely, so an edited copy is easy to spot.
A cryptographic hash is unique to the exact file.
Oh! #3
Neighbours and elders can sign a statement about who has farmed a plot, dated and public.
An onchain attestation records who said what and when.
People assume

Securing a land claim means lawyers and repeated trips to the registry.

Actually

A small scan stores permanently for free through ArDrive Turbo, and attestations cost a fraction of a cent on Base. Registering or defending title legally still costs what it costs locally.

Get witnesses to sign the fingerprint

Neighbours and elders attest the fingerprint, so a later forgery is easier to challenge.

Chapter 4

Where it matters most

  • families with customary land

Where titles are informal, signed witness statements create a dated record.

  • heirs abroad

A permanent copy means the papers do not depend on one relative's cupboard.

  • places with weak registries

A dated fingerprint helps show a document existed before a dispute began.

Questions

Does putting my land title on a blockchain make me the legal owner?

No. Ownership is decided by your country's registry and courts. An onchain record is supporting evidence only.

Should I upload my full land documents publicly?

Think carefully. Deeds can contain private details. Storing only a fingerprint proves the file existed without showing its contents.

Will a court accept a blockchain record of my land papers?

It depends on the country and judge. Some accept digital evidence; never assume it. Ask a local lawyer.

What is a document fingerprint and how is it checked?

It is a short code made from the exact file. Anyone with the original can recompute it and see if it matches the stored record.

The spark

If a cousin produced a different deed tomorrow, what dated proof could your family show?

Some links are referral links; they never change what we recommend.
