A problem people bring · solved
Our charity's funds keep getting frozen
A group wallet lets your charity hold donations so several members approve each payment, and every gift is visible to donors. That openness can make a mistaken freeze easier to challenge. Publish the Safe address and a permanent monthly report. Signers still follow local law, and stablecoin issuers can freeze tokens on legal orders.

Chapter 1
Who knew?
Every outgoing payment from a group wallet can need, say, three of five members to sign, so no treasurer can run off with it.
Donors can check every payment themselves, without asking for a report.
Stablecoins are not freeze-proof: Circle blacklisted 16 addresses under a sealed US court order in March 2026.
An alternative to a bank account means lawyers, fees and a long application.
Creating a Safe costs only network gas, which is cents on L2s. Receiving donations costs nothing; spending them costs cents per transaction. Cashing out to local money still costs a ramp spread.

Questions
Can a multisig wallet be frozen by a bank or government?
The wallet itself is not a bank account, but tokens inside it can be frozen by their issuer, and the people who sign remain subject to local law.
How many signers should a community fund wallet use?
A common choice is a majority, such as three of five, so one lost key or one bad actor cannot stop or drain the fund.
Do donors need crypto to give to a multisig wallet?
They need to send a supported token like USDC. Many will buy it on an exchange first, so share clear instructions and the network.
Is holding charity money in crypto legal?
Rules differ by country and charity status. Get local legal advice before relying on it, and keep good records.
If every donor could watch every payout live, how would that change who gives?
Some links are referral links; they never change what we recommend.
